Bekele: 'Great to be back'

Obviously Kenenisa Bekele was very happy with his victory. "After having been absent for two years this is a great return to the track", the Ethiopian said.

"The atmosphere was exceptional I was happy to be able to run without pain. In Deagu I still had some pain in my calf, but soon after the injury was over. This really upped my confidence."

"In the two weeks since the worlds I mainly worked on speed", he continued. "Before that I always suffered from the speed changes in the race, but I was able to answer those much easier now.

In Brussels Bekele took away the world year best from Mo Farrah, the silver medal of the worlds in Daegu. "Sorry to have taken your world year best", Bekele apologised.

"On the other hand Farrah already had managed a golden and silver medal at the worlds, not bad either." Of course he hopes to renew his Olympic title. "If I can stay in good health and keep on improving anything is possible", Bekele concluded.
