Chemos goes for world record at Memorial

The Belgacom Memorial Van Damme has a long history of world records. Milcah Chemos would like to contribute to that history. The Kenyan has her mind set on a new 3000 metre steeplechase world record.
 
Chemos has yet to be beaten at the 3000 metre steeplechase this season. She has won six out of six. In order to receive the 40.000 dollar Diamond League-trophy, all she has to do is take part in Brussels. She doesn't even have to finish or win the race, but of course Chemos plans on doing both.


"I'm not stressed about the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme at all", Chemos has told Kenyan media. "I hope I can achieve my big goal in Brussels: to break the world record." Her personal record is 9:08.57, which she ran in Berlin in 2009. The world record has been held by the Russian Gulnara Samitova-Galkina since 2008 at 8:58.81.
